Anatomy

The Department of Anatomy at Monno Medical College is a key component of its Basic Science division, providing foundational education in human anatomy and histology for MBBS students. It is led by Prof. Dr. S. M. Nurul Hassan, who holds an MBBS and M.Phil in Anatomy, and serves as the Professor and Head of the Department. Supporting him by experienced Professor Mohammed Iqbal, M.Phil, Dr. Md. Zamilur Rahman, an Associate Professor with an MBBS and MS in Anatomy and Dr. Rawshan Ara, Assistant Professor, M.phil and a dedicated team of six lecturers.​ The department is equipped with modern laboratories that facilitate hands-on learning, allowing students to gain practical experience in anatomical studies. This emphasis on practical training ensures that students develop a comprehensive understanding of the human body’s structure, which is essential for their future clinical education.​

Monno Medical College, established in 2011 and affiliated with the University of Dhaka, is recognized by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

The department is well-equipped with modern facilities to enhance both theoretical and practical learning. Key facilities include:

• Cadaver dissection for hands-on anatomical exploration.
• Microscopes with visualizers for conducting large group histology sessions.

• Histology practical room equipped with modern technology for slide examination and demonstrations.

• Tutorial rooms for small group interactive learning.
• Departmental library stocked with essential anatomical texts and references.
• Two dissection halls, designed to accommodate multiple student groups.
• Bone library containing a wide variety of skeletal specimens.
• Anatomy museum displaying preserved specimens, models, and charts for visual learning.

• A digital dissection table currently under processing, aimed at enhancing virtual and interactive learning experiences.

This combination of resources and skilled faculty ensures that students build a strong foundation in anatomy, essential for their future clinical practice.
