Welcome To Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department
The ground floor of MoMC&H’s hospital building houses the department of obstetrics and gynecology. The department’s job is to train fourth- and fifth-year MBBS students to become doctors who can perform common obstetrical and gynecological procedures. following the course curriculum as authorized by the BM&DC. Practical issues from Bangladesh’s sociocultural point of view are prioritized in instructional strategies and programs that follow the BMDC curriculum. According to BCPS regulations, training completed after graduation counts.
The course curriculum for clinical attachment is 16 weeks (386 hours) has been organized into components as follows:

Ventouse, forceps, Dummy fetus and female bony pelvis, Plain rubber catheter sponge holding forceps, Folley’s catheter, Hegar’s dilators, Volsellum, Artery forceps, Alli’s tissue forceps, Curette and uterine sound, Cusco’s speculum, Sim’s vaginal speculum, a handle-equipped BP blade, dissecting forceps, a middle holder, and suture supplies.
Contraceptives: MR Syringe with Canula, OCP, Implanol, injectable contraceptives, IUCD, and Barrier methods.
In components 1, 2, and 3, fourth-year MBBS students will take part in batches in shifts. Components 4, 5, and 6 will involve fifth-year MBA students.
Every morning from 9:00 am to 1:00 am, two hours will be dedicated to each clinical session. Students will practice under supervision in the evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Written (MCQ, SAQ), practical, and OSPE structured oral examination (SOE) are all included in the word-final exam. 75% attendance in lectures, practical’s, and ward placement are requirements for eligibility to take the final professional exam.
During the formative assessment, theory and practical card completion will each receive 60% of the possible points. Everything you need for proper, systematic, hands-on instruction is right here. With all kinds of examination facilities, including colposcopy, the department has a well-equipped outpatient department. It has an inpatient department with general beds and cabin-free beds for low-income patients. It has all the amenities they need, such as a cardiotocography machine, monitor, and central oxygen supply. It has a lot of equipment. It has CSSD as well. The operating room is equipped with all kinds of contemporary instruments, including laparoscopy equipment. The operating room also has an intensive care unit (ICU) for adults and neonates who are on a ventilator, as well as a preoperative and postoperative room. This facility performs all kinds of operations, most of which are referrals and complex cases from other hospitals across the nation.
